..."It's in LM's Room"....34 weeks

(please note I did 2 posts "post hoc" so please if you have time read both! we hope to have this flipped into a book for LM, so please please leave comments for us to share with him when he gets older! THANKS for coming & sharing in the joy of the little boy we are blessed to call our son!)

Our LM continues to amaze us -- while his expressive speech efforts continue to bewilder us, his efforts to communicate are entertaining -- he will repeat the same sound pairings over and over, never once losing patience for our inability to figure out what in the world he is talking about.
Things he can talk clearly about include:

Body parts, including his head -- "air", he will say (ie: for "hair")... he is so funny- on this particular occassion, we took care of pants business and he points at his head, said "air" and then truly started a cutting motion with 2 fingers saying "ut" (ie: cut). Well, yes, he DID need a little bang trip to see more clearly... here we are. He sits so still. He is such a good little boy! Bang Trimming 101

We get a lot of "when on earth are you going to cut that?" and, the answer is, "when mama is ready"... to which the response is typically "and when will that be, because it's getting really long in the back".. and I think, "yea and" but politey say "sure it is"... When will we cut it? when it seems right. His hair is definitely part of his idenity, and he does games like shaking it feverishly from side to side when i say "rock out" and overall gets a big charge out of his hair!! For now, longer hair in back and style up in front seems right.

Elmo. In Fact, there was an episode where he went to my computer and said "Pete" (for my dad, who he calls Granddad Pete, AKA GDP)... so, we called my dad on SKYPE, and were chatting...he starts saying "Elmo, Elmo, Mama, Elmo". Ok, so, truth is, the kid thinks a TV is a piece of art and that only on the computer can you watch brief bouts of Elmo. Which we do when he blesses us with his smile at 5am on rare mornings. So, I tell him, "LM, after we talk to GDP, sure, we can watch 1 elmo song"... you know what he did? "Bye bye Pete". hysterical.

"OK, OK" -- his catch phrase this week -- everything he does he says "OK" - both before, during, and after doing it. It cracks me up!

"Baby baby" -- and throws himself back in our arms and sucks his finger, and lets us lather the baby love and goo goo ga ga that he never got when he actually was a baby. It is really cute, and as I know it is just a phase, I go with it -- why not? he deserves the love & attention, and frankly while we got a lot of firsts, we did not get a lot of infant firsts, so coddling him is fun and i know there will be a day he'll say "Ick, mom, do NOT touch me let along KISS me".. :)

Pointing out people in pictures on our refridgerator has not become a favorite past time and great way to work on language :) (mind you, i am not stressed. I know he'll get it and meanwhile we are doing all we can to help him not be frustrated!)... anyway, so he can say our good friend's kids names.. and we got a playdate with them this week so he's all about saying their names... "MAK.. Alek... KK (for Keely), Mak (for little makenzie)... he can't say Rs at all right now, so sorry, Ryan ==

And, "Potty" and "Poo". Yup. Not that he says them with enough timing to manage either. but he definitely knows the concept and is happy to tell us when he's all set and ready for a pants change.... Oh yea, and before he could say either of these words, you know what happened? Jeff said to me about 2 weeks ago... "did you teach him the word 'Toot'"? Me?? NAH. wonder where he picked that up. He is a boy afer all. ha ha ha ha ha.

Kids Gone Wild.

Oh gosh. The scary thing is that I CAN see them all going crazy fun together to South Beach.
Scarier still is knowing how quickly life goes, and thus, that day will come sooner than we can even imagine!
