December Birthday Celebrating....

Our boy turned the big 3 in December, just before Christmas.. It is hard to believe! They really DO grow up! :) He has changed SO MUCH in really cool and fun ways even in the time since! We hd fun time celebrating... The week before Granddad Pete came into town (Thanks Nancy for watching the pups and holding down the fort at home so he could come in and romp with our LM!) LM loves GDPete... we talk on skype weekly, and so it's super cool to see him get excited and play when he comes to town!
...Don't let the hugs fool you...
one of the rare moments these two weren't wrestling, pillow fighting, or playing some sort of fun game together!!

While he was here, we decided to have a total impromptu birthday party for LM... THANKS to everyone who could come to the literally last minute family gig... My dad was in town, and his sisters live near by, so it was a good reason to get everyone together at a "new" (but as yet not disclosed to the general public. ha ha) locale.... One of Jeff's sisters and her man were also able to come, so it was a small but fun group of love surrounding my favorite little 3 year old...And UD, AB, KK and Jack were also free last minute so the boys had a great time in the "bounce room" as LM called it.... He loves seeing his family & of course a chance to have ice cream cake (which, sorry, little guy -- since we figured out milk was part of your issue, ice cream cakes are now few and far between!!)...

Getting Silly with Uncle Tom!!

Did you know that one a Mama forgets to take the ice cream cake out of the freezer 1/2 hour in advance, that you CAN microwave it a bit to melt it down?

....Worked like a charm...
In fact, I think that the chocolate tasted even better! ha ha ha

... Quick Family Mug Shot...

Thanks so much Gamma for the furniture fix to help us out!! :)

On LM real birthday, we both had asked for off... Since we both work at a hospital, we both had to work hours around the holiday -- and LM bday is just a couple days before Santa -- so, we asked off long before and planned the day for the 3 of us... We hopped the train into the city.. I still think the train was his favorite part of the day!! :)

...Mama and LM Digging Some Love and Hugs on the Train...

The old Wannamaker building (now Macy's) still has the full wall light show -- I remember going as a kid... it was fun and he loved it so much that we walked around and then went back and watched it a 2nd time!! (and almost 2 months later as I do this post, he will STILL talk about that day and the "big lights" and train ride...)

...Part of the light show finale...

... Oh they are both SOOO cute!! :) ...

Afterward we wandered around City Hall, which was decked out with fun "Christmas Village" kind of stuff...

...I love the look on LM face in this one!...

...Even a Carousel Ride can be had in high 20* weather
if you have gloves and hat!!...

...Goofing off at the train station before heading home...

... Lighting the Candle and a prayer...
for a special woman who made the incredible gift of our son possible...
....his birthmom...

The next day we made a turkey... There was a guy out in California from when I lived in Hermosa who would ride on the strand and say to all the cute girls, "Hey Turkey"... I had taught it to LM, and here he decided he would put the 2 concepts in action....

..."No, YOU are a turkey Mommy"... he was saying...
...Hilarious...

Of course, what post would be complete without a final photo...
"It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere"... Sometime in December, 2010 :)

Dear LM -- I can't believe you are 3!! Every day I think of a brave soul in Kirov, Russia, who gave us the give of you. You are a wonderful, happy, goofy little boy -- You have changed so much since we celebrated your birthday for the first time together last year!! You are starting to talk up a storm, love to tell stories, you are joking with us all the time... you love to read, and you LOVE music in any form -- singing, dancing to it, playing it on some sort of real or fake instrument...You are trying so hard to become independent, and yet are sweetly holding onto "i am a baby" -- It must be so confusing to "grow up" but you are doing such a great job tackling life with a fun "go get em" attitude!! We love that you are in our lives... and we are forever grateful to your birth mom for sharing you with us... You are a gift to this world -- with your smile, your belly laugh, and your compassion for others... Happy 3, buddy! We love you!!

Oh, LM -- it looks like you had such a wonderful birthday. And look how big you are getting!!

I LOVE the "5 o'clock" photos --- would love to see all of them in a video sometime showing off what a big boy you've become. (Now if only Mama had tons of spare time to do that, right??)

Hugs to you all, and I really hope to see ALL of you in April!!!

Great pictures with that update Amy!! Thanks for sharing them with your friends who don't get to see you guys often. I'm running a simulation on my lab computer and figured while I can't get more work done maybe I should see if Amy blogged again, and I was pleasantly surprised :-)

That last picture is toooooo funny. The dog is all annoyed by the camera flash, and LM is like, "C'mon dude, we do this all.the.time." Hahahaha. Fun birthday. :) (But it sure looks cold there--20* is not even in our vocabulary and I visibly shuddered when I read that.)

It IS hard to believe he's 3! How slow time went before he came and how quickly it has passed since then. He is a funny, smart little man who never seems to forget a thing. His BD party was a lot of fun. How many kids get to play in an indoor "bouncy" of their own on their BD? Cousin Jack and LM made quite the pair jumping around in there. He clearly loves present opening as well and was very sweet about thanking everyone. Love the way he stops and plays with every gift before moving on to the next (except clothes, of course). Was fun seeing the family together in the "undisclosed" location and look forward to many more BDs and gatherings with everyone there. LM, what a wonderful addition to our family you are and we thank the powers that be that brought you to us.
Love, Gamma and GD Carl (aka CoCo)
